Lately, numerous groups focused on biomedical research have begun to work and collaborate remotely. As a result, platforms that allow team communication, such as Slack, are gaining popularity.
Even though many researchers in the biomedical field use Slack regularly, there aren't any Slack applications available that cater specifically to their field in the Slack application directory.
To fix this problem, we've developed
GeneBot, a Slack application designed to help users discover information about human genes within Slack itself.
The functionalities of
GeneBot include:
- Paying attention to channel communication or slash commands to generate posts that offer insights on individual human genes.
- Paying attention to channel communication or slash commands to generate posts that offer information on sets of genes. These are analyzed using enrichment analysis, or interconnected into networks based on their known protein-protein interactions and co-expression correlations.
- Acting as an educational tool through a quiz that assists users in learning gene names.
All in all,
GeneBot is a Slack application that enables users to carry out gene-centered analyses directly within Slack.
